Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetics are prone to a condition called Diabetic Neuropathy, this involves a decrease in nerve sensitivity due to damaged nerves resulting from poor circulation. The feet become vulnerable for cuts, bruises, and wounds. For this reason, it is important to inspect feet daily. It may be challenging for some to put on shoes while inside the house, but it is necessary to decrease risks for injury. Very often, patients would verbalized how they were clueless about having a nail or some other object embedded in their foot. Soaking the feet in water for long periods is also not recommended, because this may cause skin breakdown. Compromised skin can lead to infection.
